Wild West Songwriters Festival

This is an incredible opportunity for me to meet and make connections with people who are in Nashville and around the world doing exactly what I want to be doing, being a full time musician.
Some of the songwriters featured during this weekend have had huge success in the music business and will be an amazing resource for me in the future. Some of them have had major artists pick up their songs and turn them into hits. Some of their songs have been heard by millions of people. I want to be just like some of them. Why not me?
And who am I you ask? What am I about? I’d love to tell you…
I grew up south of Deadwood. My family moved there from the Chicago suburbs in 1996. I was 10.
It was a pivotal moment in my life. A funny time for any kid but especially moving across the country into a tent while you dug a hole and built a basement quick before the snow flies. Talk about culture shock. I love being from such a famous small old west town. It’s always a topic of conversation with people around the country and the people of that town have always had my back. Even if I didn’t deserve it.
I’ve always played music. Usually in a bar. Often with a hard partying crowd. A lot of nights downtown. I wasn’t always a good kid and that continued as I let my vices get the best of me in my twenties.
I’ve done time. Not proud of it but I learned from it.
I turned my life around in 2018 after I got out of prison and met the woman who would become my wife and the mother of my 3 children. Danielle Startz now runs half of our business and has a huge impact on everything that I do in my career.
This year has been the most successful year for my music career. We have had some huge shows and met so many friendz. We have a lot of momentum right now and we are doing everything we can to maintain.
I am honored to be selected by the judges to come home to Deadwood and compete with all the other fantastic artists from South Dakota and surrounding states.
It is my intention to win this contest and use it as a launchpad for the rest of my career, but I cannot do it alone. I need the support of every single fan that I have to win this.
The winner will be selected by popular vote during the festival. Meaning that even if you can’t catch one of my songwriters rounds that you can swing into any of the establishments where they will be taking place and drop your vote in a box. The winner will be announced on Saturday October 14.
